New concrete patios, patio replacement and stamped or exposed aggregate finishes for Ann Arbor homes. Level, well-drained slabs built on a compacted base to handle Michigan winters. Licensed, insured and backed by a free written estimate.
A patio is where you grill, eat outside and sit with friends on summer nights, so it has to drain well, stay level and hold up to Michigan winters. Concrete Contractor Ann Arbor designs and pours new concrete patios and replaces cracked, sunken ones for homes across Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County.
Most failed patios in Ann Arbor come down to a soft base, poor drainage and freeze-thaw. Here is how we prevent that:
Adding a path to the patio? See our sidewalk and walkway services. We can form and pour both on the same visit.
Not sure what to build your patio with? Here is how the common options stack up for Michigan weather.
Want a decorative finish? See our stamped concrete services. Costs are typical ranges for Ann Arbor. Your exact price comes with a free on-site estimate.

BeforeAfter↔
BeforeAfter↔A standard broom finish concrete patio usually runs about $8–$14 per square foot. Stamped or colored concrete is about $13–$18 per square foot. Tear-out of an old patio, steps, curves, thicker hot tub pads and hard-to-reach backyards add to the price. We give you an exact written quote after a free on-site visit.
You can walk on it after 24 to 48 hours and put patio furniture on it after about 3 to 7 days. Wait about 28 days before setting a hot tub or other heavy loads on it, when the concrete reaches full strength.
Most residential patios are 4 inches thick over a compacted stone base. Pads for hot tubs, outdoor kitchens or heavy fire features are usually 5 to 6 inches with extra reinforcement.
Sometimes, but we rarely recommend it. If the old slab is cracked or sinking, those problems come through the new concrete, and the extra height can cause drainage and door threshold issues. In most cases we tear out the old patio and start with a fresh base.
Sealing is optional for broom finish concrete but helps it resist stains and road salt. Stamped and colored patios should be sealed after curing and resealed every 2 to 3 years to keep the color rich.
A patio poured at ground level usually does not need a building permit, but raised patios, work near property lines or changes to drainage can. We check the requirements for your address before we start.
